2010 marks the 20th anniversary of community ministry’s recognition as a fellowship track, bringing a new level of recognition to our historic practice.  In the changing religious landscape of the 21st century, community ministry will remain vital to the future of Unitarian Universalism.  UUMA members are invited to join in a conversation about what is happening today and the roles for community ministry in the future.

General Assembly Workshop
Community Based Ministries: Out of the Box-Into the World

A rising generation of Unitarian Universalist ministers has elected to serve in extra-parochial settings helping congregations strengthen relationships with other local community-based organizations. Creativity and theological imagination are hallmarks of these specialized ministries. Come learn more about how your congregation, district, and UU organization can benefit from covenanted affiliation with a community minister. Panelists: Revs. Don Robinson of Beacon House, Margie King Saphier of First Parish in Concord, MA and David Pettee of the Ministry and Professional Staff Leadership Group of the UUA. Facilitators: Revs. Deborah Holder and Maddie Sifantus

UUSCM CHAPTER DEVELOPMENT MEETING

Are you interested in learning more about how you can connect with your community ministry colleagues in your local area? Would you like to help advocate for community ministry in your district? All current UUSCM chapter coordinators, and those interested in organizing on the local level are invited to this workshop. Join UUSCM Membership Director the Rev. Michelle Walsh as we share successful models of chapter development and dialogue about the challenges and opportunities of community ministry grassroots organizing. Session will start immediately following the UUSCM annual meeting. Best Western - Village Room.
