The mission and purpose of the Community Ministry Committee of the Mountain Desert District is to provide an accountability structure for fellowshipped clergy and to facilitate congregational participation and benefit from the skills, programs, and activities of UU community-based ministers.  All ministers and students interested in localized strategies for mentoring and peer support are invited.

General Assembly Workshop
Tending the Fire VII: Community Ministers in Action

Revs. Cheryl Leshay, Michelle Walsh, and Connie Yost offer effective models for building sustainable and inheritable community-based ministries.  Rev. Yost established a community ministry with at-risk youth with the support of a congregation in California;  Rev. Leshay developed ministries as Affiliated Community Minister for Campus and Young Adult Ministries in Massachusetts; and Rev. Walsh is now working on a doctoral degree after serving with Boston UU Urban Ministry.  Facilitator: Rev. Dale Lantz, UUSCM Vice President.

President Deborah Holder and UUSCM Board reporting. Hear reports on collaboration with UUA Ministry and Professional Leadership, UUSCM Lay Community Ministry Working Group, and district-based Community Ministry Peer Review Process.  Gather at 7:30 am for breakfast; meeting starts promptly at 8 a.m. Pre-registration required.  Radisson Hotel Salt Lake City Downtown, 215 West South Temple (near the Salt Palace Convention Center).
