How the Board of Directors Works

The Board is responsible for the business of the membership, and conducts business if four or more board members are present and voting.

SCM Board Members serve three-year terms.

Vacancies on the Board may be filled at any time.

Elections are held by mail each year prior to the general meeting (usually during or immediately following the UU General Assembly).

Board Members include a President or Co-Presidents; Secretary; Treasurer; and Vice-President (when Co-Presidents do not exist), Director of Membership, Education, Communications, and Good Offices.  Other members are called "Members At Large" and assume responsibility for special projects.

Terms of At-Large positions are for one year.  Terms may be renewed, at the will of SCM's membership.

Whenever possible, transitions in officers will be preceded by an apprentice period.

In order to continue in good standing as a board member, one must perform one's duties stated in the by-laws including regular attendance at board meetings, and be a member in good standing of SCM.
